In terms of market capitalization, It has become the 10th largest stock exchange in the world with a market capitalization of more than US$ 3.4 trillion. The NIFTY 50, a 50 stock index is used as a benchmark of the Indian capital market.
NSE conducts trading sessions around the year. Timing for trading sessions is 9.15 a.m. – 3.30 p.m. (normal session) on weekdays, which is a trading session of 6 hours and 15 minutes.

The entry of modifications and orders begin at 9:00 a.m. on all business days.
The entry of modifications and orders begin at 09:08 a.m. on all business days.
Regular Trading Timings to Trade Equities
Regular market (restricted physical marketspace) commences at 09:15 a.m. on all business days.
Regular market (restricted physical marketspace) closes at 3:30 p.m. on all business days.
Block Deal Session Timings
Morning block deal window will operate from 08:45 a.m. to 09:00 a.m.
Afternoon block deal window will operate from 02:05 p.m. to 2:20 p.m.
Note: The session of trading may be closed anytime between 15.40 p.m. and 16.00 p.m. The stock exchange retains the right to restrict or advance its trading timings.
Saturdays and Sundays are holidays for NSE Trading. No trading in any segment takes place on these trading holidays.
